Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit-Baltistan, or Northern Areas of Pakistan, is a self-governing region in the northwest of the country. It was once a part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Its history can be traced back to 1846 when the region was conquered by the Dogra rulers of Jammu and Kashmir. The region gained its autonomy in the 1970s after the Simla Agreement between India and Pakistan. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan were given the right to self-governance in the 1993 Interim Constitutional Order issued by the Government of Pakistan. Since then, the region has enjoyed autonomy within the framework of the Pakistani federal government.
Before the partition of British India in 1947, Gilgit-Baltistan was part of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, a majority Muslim region. After the partition, the majority of Jammu and Kashmir was annexed by India while the rest, including the northern areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, was controlled by Pakistan. The region remained largely un-integrated into Pakistan until 1971, when the Pakistani Government enacted the Main Administration Order granting some limited autonomy to the region.
In 1972, Pakistan and India reached the Simla Agreement, which confirmed the Lines of Control between the two nations. The agreement also gave the northern areas of Gilgit-Baltistan some degree of autonomy. In the 1980s, a local governing body called the Northern Area Council was established in the region to look after the civic and administrative matters of the region. In addition, Gilgit-Baltistan was granted representation in the lower house of the Pakistani National Assembly in 1997.
With the passage of the 2009 Gilgit Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance Order by the Government of Pakistan, the region was given more powers in terms of self-governance and economic development. Currently, the region has its own legislative assembly and government, as well as the autonomous status of a self-governing region in the Pakistani federation. Despite this autonomy, Gilgit-Baltistan still remains disputed territory, with India claiming it as part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Bonfire
Bonfire Night is a popular celebration that takes place in the United Kingdom on November 5th. It commemorates the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605, in which Guy Fawkes and other conspirators attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. The festivities include fireworks, bonfires, parades, processions, and firework displays. In recent years’ groups of volunteers have also been gathering to build humane Guy Fawkes effigies for theatrical burning. Other customs associated with the event involve an evening meal, the lighting of sparklers and a singing of the “Remember, Remember” rhyme.

Motor Gliding
Motor gliding is a form of powered gliding where a small engine, usually a single or two cylinder, is used to power a glider for increased speed and range. The motor often has a fold able prop used to provide thrust during take-off and while in-flight. Unlike traditional powered aircraft, motor gliders use the engine only when it is necessary to gain altitude or increase range. When the engine is not in use, the aircraft is gliding, using only the momentum from thermals or ridge lift. Thus, motor gliders are highly efficient and can stay in the air for hours at a time.
